$8 million builds turbine at UMore

Great news for a Dakota Future community: The University of Minnesota was recently awarded funds to build a new Siemens 2.3-megawatt turbine and research facility at UMore Park in Rosemount, Minnesota.

The funding comes from an $8 million stimulus grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. The Minnesota Daily reports that “at the facility, researchers will study how to improve the efficiency and durability of wind turbines and improve land-based and offshore wind generation.”

Dakota County Technical College Unveils Program for Job Seekers

DCTC is currently offering a unique service to the unemployed.

The “Workplan” program is done in partnership with the Workforce Centers and is a FREE program specifically tailored to help today’s job seekers. This FREE assistance is every Monday through Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the College, with free parking available on campus.

The event is held in the Central Commons of the College and is open to anyone seeking job assistance.  DCTC is sharing resources to assist with:

  • Networking opportunities with seasoned professionals
  • Career Workshops
  • Assistance with resumes and interviewing
  • Information on starting your own business and access to computer labs

Along with this assistance, DCTC has 15 computer labs and classroom space available to those that need access.
